Unless a man returns home immediately after a fresh haircut, most men need to be presentable and ready for his next appointment after his haircut. Being presentable includes not having loose hair clippings on his back or neck once he leaves the hair cut location, and washing his hair after a haircut ensures he is ready for his next engagement.

Things You'll Need:

  • Towel
  • Whisk brush
  • Shampoo
  • Shampoo massager
  1. Step 1

Brush or wipe the hair off of his neck, collar and shirt with a fresh towel or whisk brush. Small pieces of hair fall onto clothing during a haircut, and it only takes a second to discard the clippings while he admires his new style.

  2. Step 2

Wash his hair using a scalp stimulating shampoo. A shampoo with tea tree oil like Paul Mitchell's Special Tee Tree Shampoo or peppermint oil like Carol's Daughter's Rosemary Mint Shampoo invigorates the scalp (see Resources below).

  3. Step 3

Massage his scalp during the wash. The massage helps wash away even more loose hair clippings while promoting the shampoo to stimulate the scalp. Consider using a scalp shampoo massager for added benefit. The massagers are available at beauty supply stores such as Sally Beauty Supply or home stores such as Bed Bath and Beyond (see Resources below).

  4. Step 4

Encourage him to relax further while you rinse his hair by having male-oriented entertainment like a sports game playing or by putting a warm towel on his face for a couple of minutes. SportClips offers additional relaxation tools geared towards men, including the after haircut shampoo.
