If you're going for drama with your eye makeup, you absolutely cannot forget your eyelashes. The lashes frame your eyes and complete the dramatic look. Apply your mascara so your lashes look thick and full. Here is how to apply mascara for dramatic makeup.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Get fake eyelashes. Applying fake eyelashes is a way to instantly add drama to your eyes. If you choose fake lashes, forgo using any mascara because they are dramatic enough without it.

  2. Step 2

Curl your lashes. Curling your lashes opens up your eyes, making them look more dramatic. Curl your lashes before applying any mascara.

  3. Step 3

Buy the darkest mascara you can find. If you don't already own black mascara, buy some. Look for mascara designed to add the illusion of volume and length to your lashes.

  4. Step 4

Apply multiple coats of mascara. Holding the wand at the base of the eyelashes, begin applying your first coat. Let it dry for around 30 seconds and apply a second coat. Continue applying coats of mascara until you have achieved the level of drama you want for your eyes.

  5. Step 5

Coat the bottom lashes. After you've finished with the top lashes, using the same technique in Step 4, apply multiple coats of mascara to your bottom lashes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't be afraid to cake on the mascara. The dramatic makeup look is one look in which your mascara doesn't have to be extremely neat and clean. Go ahead and pile on your mascara to complete the look.
  • Always buy quality mascara for this look. Less expensive mascaras tend to dry and flake off, and by the end of the night, you'll end up with little black specks all over your face. Buying quality mascara will keep this from happening.
