How to Apply Lipstick for Dramatic Makeup

• Lip liner pencil
• Lipstick
• Lip gloss

1. Choose a lip liner pencil and matching lipstick in a nice pink color. For your dramatic look, your lip color should be about two shades darker than your natural lip color. Additionally, your lipstick should be matte, and not iridescent or frosty.
2. Begin with your lip liner pencil, following the natural line of your lips, but tracing along the outer edges to create the illusion of larger lips. Be careful that the line is even and not too wide, as an overzealous optical illusion can quickly destroy your dramatic look.
3. Fill in your lips with your liner pencil once you have completed the outline. Filling in the lips with the liner pencil creates a sort of primer for your lip color, help the lipstick to bond to your lips and last longer through the evening. Additionally, filling in the lips ensures that you will not be left with unsightly lip lines if your lipstick begins to fade.
4. Cover your lip liner with your matching lipstick, blending well by rubbing your lips together. Top off your dramatic makeup look by adding a touch of lip gloss. Only apply lip gloss to the middle section of your lips, avoiding the crease where pigment and moisture can begin to clump.
