The most important aspects of dramatic makeup are your eyes and your lips. When applying lip color, you want your lips to appear larger than life. Once you have perfected this technique, you can use your skills to fill out your lips anytime--without plastic surgery. Here are a few tips to show you how.

Things You'll Need:

  • Lip conditioner
  • Lip liner
  1. Step 1

Begin your dramatic makeup look by applying a lip conditioner to your lips. Moisturizing your lips will ensure that your lip color not only goes on smoothly, but that the pigments do not dry and chap the sensitive tissue of your lips. Allow the moisturizer to absorb while you apply makeup to your face and eyes.

  2. Step 2

Apply your lip color as the finishing touch, choosing a semi-dark pink. You want your lip liner color to be approximately two shades darker than your natural lip color to give them pop.

  3. Step 3

Line your lips, creating a line just beyond the natural lip line. By extending the natural line of your lips you create the illusion of full, sexy lips; however, be careful not to overdo it or a dramatic makeup look can quickly look fake.

  4. Step 4

Finish the outer line of your lips and then use your lip liner pencil to fill in your lips. Covering your lips with the liner pencil is like adding a primer for your color. It will give your final lipstick or gloss a base to hold onto, ensuring long lasting color all evening long. By filling in your lips with the pencil, you also avoid an ugly lip line if your lip color starts to fade.
