When heading out for a night on the town, you want to create smoky eyes and use highlighting products such as luminescent blush and bronzers, which will help your skin to look healthy and beautiful under artificial lighting. Lips, which top your evening look, should be applied with care, since they must balance your dramatic eyes. A few tips can help.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Lip conditioner or olive oil
  • Neutral lip liner
  • Neutral soft lip gloss
  • Lipstick brush
  1. Step 1

Apply your lip color as the finishing touch to your makeup. Before applying any of your makeup, you should always use a lip conditioner or even olive oil on your lips, since lipsticks tend to draw moisture out, causing cracked, chapped lips. Additionally, adding lip color to moisturized lips is much easier and ensures a long-lasting look.

  2. Step 2

Keep your lips looking freshly applied all evening long by applying lip liner not just to the outer edge of your lips but also to the inside. Lip liner is made to last longer and works like a primer for your lip color. Choose a neutral color that matches your natural lip color so you don't overpower your dramatic eyes.

  3. Step 3

Choose a soft lip gloss that matches the color of your chosen lip liner. If desired, you can even select a gloss with silver or gold flecks, which adds a subtle glimmer and fills out your lips. If you have full lips, use a gloss with less shine. On the contrary, if you have thin lips, you can create the illusion of fuller lips by using a high-gloss finish.

  4. Step 4

Use a small lipstick brush to apply your gloss, beginning on the outer edges and working in. Avoid applying gloss to the corners of your mouth, since product tends to build there. Make sure you blend the gloss well, since it will absorb and hold onto your primer, or lip liner.
