If you want to touch up your makeup after a long day at the office before going to happy hour with your co-workers, changing your eye makeup from a daytime to evening look can have a dramatic effect. Simply touch up your eye shadow and apply some lipstick, and you're ready for a fun night on the town.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Range of eye shadow colors
  1. Step 1

Apply a light color for the base and a medium color for the lid color. The light base color will cover the entire eyelid from eyelid to eyebrow. This will give a good foundation for the other colors to go on smoothly and stay on longer. Apply the medium color from the lash line up to the eyelid crease. Blend both colors so it looks natural.

  2. Step 2

Pick a darker color for the eye shadow crease area. Using a darker color on the outer eye will help give your eyes a smoky and dramatic look, as well as make your eyes look bigger.

  3. Step 3

Take your eye shadow and make a sideways V shape. Start from the outer point of your eyelid and move in toward the middle along the lash line for the bottom portion. Then move from the outer point up the crease line, stopping at the middle of the eye.

  4. Step 4

Fill in the area with the darker eye shadow carefully. Add a little eye shadow at a time to ensure you get the right shade and look. If you add too much at a time, it could cause you to look like a clown.

  5. Step 5

Blend carefully and often. Every time you apply more eye shadow, take a fluffy eye shadow brush and blend the color into the lid color to keep your eyes looking natural and dramatic. Continue blending until you've achieved the dramatic look you want.

Tips & Warnings
  • Choose an eye shadow compact with multiple colors so you have all three colors ready to use. Iridescent eye shadows work best for daytime because the shimmer gives them a more dramatic look.
