Your red carpet event is coming up, and it is time to prepare to look your best, since all eyes will be on you. Once you have picked your gown, matching shoes and a stunning pair of earrings, it is time to work on your eye makeover. With a few simple makeup tips, you can ensure that you will be turning heads during your next red carpet affair.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Three shades of eye shadow (dark for evening, natural for day)
  • Shadow primer
  • Liquid eyeliner
  • Black mascara
  1. Step 1

Select your shadow tones depending on the time of day of the big event. If it is an evening affair, make over your eyes with sexy, smoky colors. If you are doing your makeup for a daytime event, colors should be soft and natural. Begin by applying a light layer of shadow primer to your eyelids to ensure that your look lasts for the entire event.

  2. Step 2

Line your eyelids with a dark shade of shadow to begin your red carpet look. The shadow should cover only about the lower one-third of the lid. Use an angled brush to apply a soft line just above the lashes, and then blend the color up toward the lid. This dark line will help to give depth to your eyes.

  3. Step 3

Highlight the eyes by adding a very fine line of shadow above the lashes, choosing a color two or three shades lighter than your original color choice. Finally, with a medium-sized shadow brush, fill in the upper lid with a midtone color that balances and brings together the first two. Use your finger to softly blend the colors.

  4. Step 4

Apply a fine line of liquid eyeliner to both the upper and lower eyelids. Keep the line thin to keep your look elegant. The line of your top lid should begin at the outer corner and cover about three-quarters of the eye. The lower lid should also begin at the outer corner, covering about two-thirds of the eye. Apply your liner as close to the lash line as possible.

  5. Step 5

Choose a dark mascara; however, avoid thick, volumizing makeup, since you want your lashes to be light and natural-looking. Apply the liquid to the applicator blush and lightly roll the brush down the top of the upper lashes. Look up and press the brush lightly into the lower side of the upper lashes, wiggling the brush to work the mascara evenly from the roots to tips. This wiggling motion will help to minimize clumping.

  6. Step 6

Add a light touch of mascara to your lower lashes using the same technique to top off your red carpet makeover.
