Goth makeup is famous for its hard look, characterized by smooth, milky skin and dark, forceful eyes and lips. Whether you are just trying out a goth style or working to perfect your current style, learning to apply mascara is one of the most important aspects of nailing your goth look. A few tips can help.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Thick, black volumizing mascara with a large applicator brush
  1. Step 1

Perfect your goth eyes with shadows and eyeliners before you apply your mascara. Mascara is the finishing touch to your eyes and, once applied, can be ruined if you try to apply more shadow or liner.

  2. Step 2

Choose a thick, black volumizing mascara with a large applicator brush. With a goth look, you want your mascara to be applied as thickly as possible. While in most cases you want to apply mascara delicately to prevent clumping and add curl to your lashes, a goth look is the opposite. Don't worry about getting sloppy, having clumps or adding too much.

  3. Step 3

Dip the applicator brush into the tube and cover the bristles with as much mascara as possible. Begin by adding the makeup to the top of the lashes, laying the brush down and wiggling to get the liquid down to the base of the lashes. Now look up and repeat the wiggling motion under the top lashes, and then draw the brush up toward the tips of the lashes.

  4. Step 4

Apply a bit more liquid to your brush, and then use the tip of your brush to apply mascara to the bottom lashes. Use quick, sweeping motions with the brush tip, applying the mascara as thick as possible to your goth eyes. Repeat on the opposite eye to finish your dark, shadowy eyes.
