Whether you are looking for a way to spice up your everyday style or want to look stunning for a night on the town, a holiday party or special event, metallic makeup can give you that extra something. Like any makeup, metallic makeup requires special application and a bit of skill. A few tips can teach you how to apply platinum shadow, the base color for your metallic eye shadow.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Blending brush
  1. Step 1

Apply your eye shadow base only after your makeup base and shadow prep is complete. You have already applied foundation primer and powder to a clean face and finished your blush. Once you have set your foundation and blush with a finishing powder, applied your platinum highlights and finished your eye shadow primer, you are ready to begin.

  2. Step 2

Dip your blending brush lightly into your platinum colored metallic eye shadow. Add shadow sparingly, since it is easier to add more than to remove excess. Begin by dabbing the brush along the edge of the lid and then use short, sweeping motions to blend it along the lid.

  3. Step 3

Use light, upward strokes to carry the platinum shadow up toward the crease of the eyelid. You want the platinum base to cover all of the bottom lid, ending at the crease. Make sure the powdered shadow is well-blended.

  4. Step 4

Place another small bit of shadow on your brush and apply a very light layer to the brow bone using long, smooth strokes. Begin near the nose and then blend the shadow out toward the outer lid. The platinum color applied to the brow should be far lighter than on the lid, since it is meant to highlight and add depth to the eyes. You are now ready to add the second layer of metallic shadow using gold powder.
