Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Pay attention to the proportion of the body. Pants that are too long and shirts that are too short will not look realistic. When putting items of men's clothing together in sets, they should match a natural body proportion.
Step2
Put together items of clothing that go together. Pair shorts with a short-sleeved shirt or long sleeves with pants. Keep the accessories appropriate for the outfit. A dressy pair of pants will look better with a belt.
Step3
Keep the shoes appropriate for the outfit and in proportion. The shoes of a drawing, just as in real life, make a big statement. Draw dressy, casual, winter or summer shoes that will go well with the outfit you've drawn. Make sure the shoes are not too large for the drawing or you will end up with a comic effect. Shoes that are too small may give the drawing an effeminate look. To get ideas on proper proportion, look at magazine pictures or photographs of men.
Step4
Draw the appropriate closures for each piece of clothing. Most pieces will have a visible closure of some kind such as a zipper or buttons. A belt should have a buckle and most shoes will have laces. If the drawing is small, the closures may be nothing more than a tiny dot or thin line.
Step5
Shade the clothes to add realism. Decide where the light source is coming from and shade accordingly.
