How to Share Stories With Google Reader

One of the best aspects of the Internet involves the ability to interact with others on a virtual platform. With the Google Reader program, you can find stories all over the Internet and link them in one place. Once you set up your Google Reader preferences you can share the stories you've compiled.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Set up your profile. Before you can start sharing stories, you need to set up your Google Reader account preferences. You'll want to enter basic profile information and also invite any of your Google or G-Mail friends to join Google Reader.

  2. Step 2

    Add the links to your favorite sites. Google Reader allow you to read all of your favorite content through the program. Put in the URLs of the sites you want to appear on your personalized web pages.

  3. Step 3

    Find the story you wish to share with others. Click the "Share" link at the bottom of the story you want to send to your friends' Google Reader accounts.

  4. Step 4

    Check the "Your Shared Items" option in Google Reader to keep track of the different stories you share on the site. You'll find a listing of all the web content you sent out to others.

Tips & Warnings
  • Your friends will find the content you shared under the "Friends' Shared Items" menu. They'll receive notification when logging into their Google Reader account.
  • You can also choose to retract a shared story through Google Reader. After you select "Share," an "Unshare" link will appear in its place. Click on this to take the story out of your friends' Google Reader accounts.
