If you have ever searched for something on the Internet using a search engine, the same concept applies to searching in Google Reader. The search option allows you to easily find topics within the feeds you have subscribed to.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Sign in to your Google Reader account by typing in the email and password you used when signing up.

  2. Step 2

Locate the "Search" box at the top of the screen on your Google Reader home page.

  3. Step 3

Type in the keyword or keywords that you wish to find topics on and click on "Search" to search for all items having to do with your keywords. The information displayed will come from the feeds you have already subscribed to in Google Reader.

  4. Step 4

Select the feed to go to the specific story. At the bottom of the story there are more options: you can add a star, share the feed, email the story to someone or tag it for your future use.

  5. Step 5

Click on "All Items" in order to search using different options. You can define the search to only display your starred items, feeds you've shared, feeds your friends have shared or specific folders or subscriptions. This option is helpful if you have a lot of feeds and you want to minimize the amount of items that are displayed in your search.

  6. Step 6

Switch from expanded view to list view by clicking on either option on the top right hand corner of the screen.
