How to Organize Feeds With Google Reader

One option that Google Reader provides is the ability to create folders to place feeds in. The feeds that you subscribe to can then be organized in a convenient folder so you can find them easily. This is especially helpful if you subscribe to a lot of feeds.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Log in to your Google Reader account using your email and password and locate "Manage Subscriptions" on the bottom left hand side of your home page.

  2. Step 2

Choose the feed that you wish to place in a folder. To the right of that feed you will find the tab that will either read "Change Golders" or "Add to a Golder." If you have subscribed to a bundle you will see that particular folder already there. If you wish to create a new folder choose "New Golder." Type the name of the new folder into the Webpage Dialog box that pops up.

  3. Step 3

Click on "Back to Google Reader" at the top of the settings page to return to your home page. Notice that the updated feeds are now in the left hand panel. If you have a lot of folders, you can minimize them by clicking on the minus sign next to the folder name so they don't take up as much space.

  4. Step 4

View the number of new stories within the Google Reader folder by noticing the bold number beside the folder name.

  5. Step 5

Select a folder by clicking on it to view all of the stories in that specific folder. You can view these in expanded view or list view by clicking on the option in the right hand corner of the screen.

  6. Step 6

Drag a solitary feed into a folder by left clicking and holding the button down while dragging it to the folder you wish it to be in. Doing this same technique also allows you to rearrange your folders or feeds into the order you want them.
