When washing windows, the best way to clean your window screens is to remove them from the window before washing them. Sometimes, however, the window screens are not removable. Here's how to deal with unremovable screens when washing windows.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Soapy water
  • Sponge
  • Scrub brush
  • Garden hose
  • Towel
  1. Step 1

Soak the window screen thoroughly. Use the garden hose or load up the window washing sponge with water and rub it all over the screen.

  2. Step 2

Use a scrub brush dipped in your soapy water and run it along the entire surface of the screen. Don't push so hard as to tear the screens, but apply enough pressure to remove any debris on the screen.

  3. Step 3

Clean the corners and the edges of your window screen with your scrub brush and soapy water.

  4. Step 4

Rinse off the window screens by spraying them with a garden hose.

  5. Step 5

Tap the screen several times with a towel to knock off excess water. Start at the top of the screen and tap the water down to the bottom. Then, use the towel to wipe down the screen to completely dry it off.

  6. Step 6

Repeat this process on every window that has an unremovable window screen.

Tips & Warnings
  • Cleaning windows in direct sunlight will cause streaking and spotting. An overcast day is best for window washing.
  • Between washings, use a vacuum cleaner to clean dirty window screens.
  • A few drops of dishwashing liquid mixed with warm water is perfect for cleaning your windows.
