If you spent the money for a pressure washer, then you'll want to maintain the equipment in order to properly protect your investment. A part of maintaining a pressure washer involves storing the machine correctly. This process doesn't take long and prevents future problems.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Read the instruction manual that came along with the pressure washer. This booklet gives you additional storage and care information about your particular model.

  2. Step 2

Stop the water source. Before you can release any water left in the system, you need to turn off the pressure washer's water source.

  3. Step 3

Release any water that remains in the pressure washer. Before you continue breaking down the machine, get rid of that last burst of water left in the nozzle. Purge any additional water by clicking the power on and off several times.

  4. Step 4

Turn off power to the pressure washer. You should shut it off and unplug it after you're done using it and ready to store the equipment.

  5. Step 5

Move your pressure washer to a storage facility. Once you break down the machine, you can put it in storage until you need it again. Ideally, you should place a cover over the pressure washer and place it in a spot where it's protected against the elements.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you're using a gas powered pressure washer, remember to turn the gas valve off before breaking the machine down and storing it.
  • Remember to clean up any spills before you attempt to move the pressure washer. By following this safety precaution, you'll protect yourself from slipping.
