Cleaning the inside of the oven may not be your favorite thing to do, but it's one of those household chores that must be done from time to time. A few tips can make the job a bit easier, and can make the inside of your oven shine.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Hot water
  • Sponge
  • Window cleaner

Step1
Wipe the inside of the oven with a sponge and some very hot water. This will be enough to remove many of the baked on spills from the bottom of the oven.
Step2
Lift up the coil and wipe well underneath.
Step3
Scrub around the seals.
Step4
Use window cleaner to clean the inside and outside of the window, if hot water doesn't do the job to your satisfaction.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have an oven that is difficult to clean, try white vinegar and baking soda. Use a sponge to apply a generous coating of baking soda to the entire inside of the oven. After about three hours, spritz the oven with a spray bottle filled with white vinegar. Let it sit for several hours, and wipe it with a sponge and hot water.
  • Your next oven cleaning job will be easier if you wipe up spills as they occur. If you know something is likely to overflow, put a large sheet of aluminum foil on the oven rack.
  • Use commercial oven cleaner only as a last resort. Be sure to keep it out of the reach of children. Wear gloves to protect your hands, and ventilate the area well.
