Typically, the worst part about cleaning an oven involves scrubbing out the inside. Most people use a harsh cleaner which often takes more than half an hour to complete the process. However, cleaning an oven's surface can take much less time and energy.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Remove the oven racks. You need easy access to the oven's surface in order to give it a good cleaning and make sure you get rid of all excess food and debris. If you want to clean the racks, place them in the sink for cleaning later.

  2. Step 2

Prepare your cleaning supplies. Get a clean sponge or rag along with a cleaning solution to use on the oven's surface. You can use a multi-surface cleaner or make your own with lemon juice and warm water.

  3. Step 3

Fill a small basin with lukewarm water. If you have not cleaned the surface in some time, you may want to keep a basin close by for easy rinsing.

  4. Step 4

Wipe away all of the loose debris and remove any food particles.

  5. Step 5

Scrub the harder spots until the debris lifts away. Wipe away with your rag or sponge until it's completely clean. You can dry the oven's surface with a clean cloth.

Tips & Warnings
  • Even if you have a self-cleaning oven, you'll still have to clean the surface from time to time.
  • If you're cleaning the inner surfaces of the oven and use oven cleaner, follow the directions closely and wear gloves for protection.
