If you use your microwave often, you may notice the amount of food that gets stuck to the turntable. If left unwashed, the food builds up over time and sticks to the glass turntable. That stuck-on food can't be removed by simply wiping down the turntable. Try the following to thoroughly clean a microwave's turntable.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Remove the glass turntable from the microwave. You can only effectively clean the component if it's completely removed and washed in the sink.
Step2
Wet the turntable with warm water. Use your household sponge and dish detergent to wash the glass turntable. Rinse away the residue to find the areas with the baked on food stains.
Step3
Scrub at the stains with the scrubbing section of a sponge. If the food stain doesn't come off easily, you may want to soak it in warm water with dish detergent for several minutes. Try to scrub at the spots once again to see if they come off.
Step4
Rinse the microwave turntable completely after cleaning both sides. Let it sit in your dish rack or use a clean towel to dry it. Once it's completely dried, you can put it back in the microwave.

Tips & Warnings

  • You should clean the glass turntable more often than the other components of the microwave. You can easily take the turntable in and out of the microwave to perform this action.
  • You should not use any toxic cleaners on the turntable of your microwave. You place food on this section and you don't want to contaminate it.
