How to Fuse Flat Panel Christmas Decorations

Flat panel Christmas decorations are simple and really cute. Best of all, you don't need any sewing skills to make them. This project is a fantastic craft to do with children during Christmas vacation. Just make sure you supervise the kids' Christmas creativity. Read on and learn how to fuse these awesome ornaments.

Things You'll Need:

• Christmas fabric
• Pinking shears
• Fusible webbing
• Scissors
• Press cloth
• Iron

1. Cut an image out of Christmas-themed fabric. Use pinking shears to cut out the Christmas picture to prevent raveling.

2. Buy fusible webbing at any fabric store. You can buy fusible webbing by the roll or by the yard. Choose webbing that's fairly thick, such as the kind used to make curtains and drapes. Read the manufacturer's instructions on how to use the specific webbing.

3. Trim a sheet of fusible webbing so that it's slightly smaller than the Christmas pictures you want to use for your Christmas decorations. Lay it on the wrong side of your fabric. Cover the webbing and fabric with a plain white cotton press cloth.

4. Set your iron on its "wool" setting. Place the iron on your press cloth for about 15 seconds. Move the iron around slightly to prevent scorching your Christmas decorations.

Tips & Warnings

• Fusible webbing doesn't work with all fabrics. To be sure, test a small patch of webbing on a small patch of fabric before you use it on the images you selected for your Christmas decorations.
• Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the fusible webbing you buy. Directions vary slightly from one brand to the next.
