How to Wrap Cookie Dough

You can wrap cookie dough and freeze it for up to six weeks. This way, you can slice off what you need for fresh-baked cookies with no mess and save the rest for later. You can wrap cookie dough in rolls for slicing, or in balls for break-and-bake cookies.

Slice and Bake Logs

Step1
Chill the prepared cookie dough before you freeze it. This way your cookies will taste fresher when baked.
Step2
Form the cookie dough into logs. Make each log long enough to make approximately a dozen, 1 inch cookies.
Step3
Roll the log from Step 2 in a good quality plastic wrap. Tuck the ends in first, then wrap plastic wrap makes several times around the cookie dough log.
Step4
Wrap each cookie dough log twice to ensure the dough stays fresh and free of freezer burn for up to six weeks.

Break and Bake Cookie Dough

Step1
Form the cookie dough into small balls of the same size and shape. Many people like their cookie dough balls about an inch in diameter.
Step2
Place a dozen cookie dough balls in the center of a large section of plastic wrap.
Step3
Fold the edges in, then fold the sides over the cookie dough balls and wrap them securely.
Step4
Add a second layer of plastic wrap make sure the cookie dough is fully protected against freezer burn.

Tips & Warnings

  • Write the date you made the cookie dough on the plastic wrap so you know how long the dough has been in the freezer and whether it's still good to eat.
