If you know someone who wears wigs, you may want to buy her one as a gift. However, before you make a wig purchase, you'll want to gather some information to make sure she'll like it and won't have to return it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find a wig retailer. You'll want to either find a local wig shop or order your gift wig online. For a large selection, order online (see Resources).

  2. Step 2

Know the person's head measurements. You'll need to know his head size before you can order a wig as a gift. If you know his cap size, you can use that measurement to order a wig.

  3. Step 3

Consider the color of the wig. You'll want to use the recipient's skin tone to pick out a flattering wig color. For example, a person with very dark skin coloring may not look right in a red or blond wig.

  4. Step 4

Choose the hair length for the wig. Select the length based on the style the person normally wears. Women can typically wear any length while men look better in longer wigs.

  5. Step 5

Decide on the type of hair you want in the wig. Your recipient may have specific preferences regarding whether the wig is made of synthetic or human hair.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you want to save money on your gift purchase, pick a wig with synthetic hair. Wigs with human hair cost more.
  • Remember to find out about the wig retailer's return policy. You'll want to pass along this information to the recipient.
