Building a snowman is a favorite wintertime activity of many families. It's usually quite cold outside when the time comes for building snowmen so it's important to dress as warm as possible to enjoy the experience.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Thermal underwear
  • Long-sleeved shirt
  • Pants
  • Thick sweatshirt
  • Gore-Tex coat
  • Gore-Tex pants
  • Gore-Tex gloves
  • Ski boots
  • Thick socks
  • Hat
  • Earmuffs
  • Scarf
  • Ski mask
  1. Step 1

Layer your clothing. Wear long thermal underwear under a long-sleeved shirt and pants. Layer a thick sweatshirt over a long-sleeved shirt if you don't have thermal underwear. Avoid wearing one thick layer of clothing. Multiple layers keep you warmer.

  2. Step 2

Dress in a thick, heavy coat, pants and gloves made out of Gore-Tex fabric. Gore-Tex wicks away moisture and keeps you dry. You definitely want to stay dry when playing in the snow. If your gloves are made of a moisture-absorbing material, you won't be able to spend much time building a snowman.

  3. Step 3

Choose apres-ski boots for your footwear. Apres-ski boots work especially well as they give you the best traction and repel moisture in the snow. Wear thick socks as well.

  4. Step 4

Remember your accessories to keep your face and head warm. Choose a hat that comes over your ears or pair a hat with earmuffs. Wrap a scarf around your mouth and neck. If it's very cold or snowing, choose a ski mask that covers everything but your eyes.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you ever feel too warm, remove a layer of clothing. If you sweat too much, your body loses heat and you may get too cold.
