Step 1
Take calligraphy classes. Classes are a great way to brush up on your calligraphy skills and to learn the correct way to do calligraphy. Some community colleges may be able to help you find a calligraphy class or you can get the college to hire you to teach a class.
-
Step 2
Buy calligraphy equipment. A beginner calligrapher only needs a drawing board, double pencils, pens, nibs and ink. A calligraphy business needs special brushes for signs, paper and a good set of calligraphy pens. As a calligraphy business continues to grow, keeping up with supplies can get a bit expensive.

Step 3
Go to trade shows. The best place to show your work is at a craft or trade show or make a portfolio to show off your work. The portfolio could contain menus, wedding invitations, place cards and anything else you can think of that may use calligraphy. You can also make your own calligraphy kits to sell.

Step 4
Visit businesses that could use your calligraphy services. Take your portfolio to businesses like wedding planners, printers and restaurants to see if they can use your services.
