This Solitaire game adds a special twist: arithmetic. During game play, the value of the cards must be calculated by simple math and played accordingly. This feature makes this particular solitaire a good one for grade schoolers, who can develop strategy and practice quick addition and subtraction, too.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Shuffle a standard deck of 52 cards. Deal out two parallel columns of three cards face up and a card's width apart. Place a seventh card between the top two cards of the columns.

  2. Step 2

Set the remaining cards aside as the stock pile. Position the foundation pile between the two bottom cards of each column.

  3. Step 3

Consider a point value for each card: Aces through tens are face value; Jacks are 11 points; Queens 12 points and Kings 13 points. As play proceeds, place Kings as they present to the bottom of the stock pile.

  4. Step 4

Play cards to the foundation pile that are double the value of the card showing. Place a six on a three, an eight on a four, a ten on a five.

  5. Step 5

Double the value of sevens and cards greater, then subtract 13. Perform this calculation to give a seven a value of one or a ten a value of seven on the playing field

  6. Step 6

Perform the mathematical calculation and place cards on the foundation pile that are double the card that is showing. Continue playing cards from the board and from the stock pile until play is exhausted.

  7. Step 7

Win the game by finishing with one piles of cards. Shuffle the cards and play again.

Tips & Warnings
  • If a King is dealt to the initial set up of the game board, replace it with another card. Remove Kings from play and hold them at the bottom of the stock pile.
  • Kings cannot be played because they have a value of 13 and serve only to block the game.
