Follow the Queen is poker game and a variation of Seven Card Stud. It's generally played in home games, rather than in casinos or professional games. Queens are always wild as is the card that immediately follows a Queen.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin with a standard deck of 52 cards with no jokers. Shuffle the cards well and cut them according to the house practice. Announce that the game is Follow the Queen.

  2. Step 2

Deal two cards one at a time face down to each player. Follow this by dealing one more card to each player but turn this card face up.

  3. Step 3

Start with the player with the lowest betting hand (of the cards showing) and begin bidding. Deal one more card face up to each player after one round of betting.

  4. Step 4

Bid around the table again, starting with the player with the best hand considering the cards showing including any Queens or wild cards. Deal another card face up to each player after this second round of betting.

  5. Step 5

Note that Queens are always wild as is any card dealt immediately after a Queen. Remember that the card that follows a dealt Queen changes each time, so the card following a previously dealt Queen is no longer wild after a second Queen.

  6. Step 6

Allow another round of betting with two hole cards and four cards up. Deal last card face down to each player.

  7. Step 7

Let each player review his hand and select the five best cards of the seven to make the final hand. Begin the final round of betting.

Tips & Warnings
  • The second wild card changes each time a Queen is dealt, depending on the card that follows the Queen.
