Craps is one of the most popular games both in casinos and through online gaming websites. There are many different ways to play the game and different bets to place. It can all be a little overwhelming at first, but you'll get the hang of it with a little practice.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Understand how the game of craps is played. Craps is a table game and has a variety of blocks on the table used for different game styles and betting practices. The game also includes dice and a shooter, though many people can bet at each table.

  2. Step 2

Know where the don't come bar is located. It is at the corner of the table, it is the opposite of the come bar. A don't come bet moves behind the number and you are betting with the house and against the shooter, since it is all the opposite of a come bet.

  3. Step 3

Ask the dealer of a slow or nearly empty table to show you the ropes. They will often do this if you are unsure about how to play or how to play don't come bar. You can run through a couple of quick practice throws before putting in your money for real.

  4. Step 4

Practice don't come bar at home with a mock up craps table and your spouse or friend to help you gain confidence at playing don't come bar and playing craps overall. This is important, as the more comfortable you become with the game, the least likely you are to make a costly mistake when playing in a casino with a crowd and other distractions.

on 7/23/2008 Each end of a craps layout has a box in the upper corner. This is the don't come box. Northern Nevada layouts do not have don't come boxes, but instead use the don't pass line after a point has been established.

on 7/23/2008 The "don't come" bet in craps is just that. The word "bar" refers to the 12, which is a push, or standoff, for this bet. If you look at a craps layout, you will see that the layout actually says, "Don't Come, Bar 12," with a picture of the 12 substituting for the number.

In Northern Nevada and by the choice of some casinos scattered around the world, such as Australia, California and the Caribbean, the 2 is barred. The layout in this case reads, "Don't Come, Bar 2."

The don't come bet wins automatically on 2 or 3, and loses automatically on 7 and 11. 12 is barred, as mentioned, meaning it is a push. If any other number is rolled, the don't come money is moved to that number.

Don't come bets are bets that the number will not repeat. If the number repeats, the don't come bet loses. If a 7 appears before the number, the don't come bet wins. No other number matters.
