Step 1
Understand how the game of craps is played. Craps is a table game and has a variety of blocks on the table used for different game styles and betting practices. The game also includes dice and a shooter, though many people can bet at each table.
-
Step 2
Use the prop box to place prop bets. An example of this, ask for a hard 6, a hard 8 and a dollar on the 12. If the shooter rolls a 4 easy, it has no effect on the hard 6 or 8, but 12 loses because it was a one roll bet.

Step 3
Ask the dealer of a slow or nearly empty table to show you the ropes. They will often do this if you are unsure about how to play or how to place prop bets. You can run through a couple of quick practice throws before putting in your money for real.
-
Step 4
Practice a field bet at home with a mock up craps table and your spouse or friend to gain confidence at placing prop bets and playing craps overall. This is important, as the more comfortable you become with the game, the least likely you are to make a costly mistake when playing in a casino with a crowd and other distractions.
