This will explain how to hookup 2 VCR's to a different channel on your TV.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 coaxial splitter, with 1 Input, and 2 Outputs
  • 2 VCR's with coaxial and RCA A/V Inputs and Outputs
  • A TV that is VHF/UHF compatible, with at least 1 RCA A/V Input
  • 4 coaxial cables
  • 1-2 RCA A/V cables
  • 1 single coaxial wall jack
  1. Step 1

Using a coaxial splitter, run 1 coaxial cable, coming from the splitter's input, into a coaxial wall jack.

  2. Step 2

Run 1 coaxial cable from each VCR's In from Ant coaxial port, and run each cable, from each VCR, to a single Output coaxial port in the splitter. (1 coaxial cable coming from one VCR's In From Ant into the Output coaxial port in the splitter, and the same with the other VCR). Each VCR gets its own Output in the splitter.

  3. Step 3

Now, choose which VCR you would like to have on channel 3 on your TV. For that VCR that you want on channel 3, run a coaxial cable from that VCR's Out to TV coaxial port, into a VHF/UHF coaxial Input in your TV.

  4. Step 4

Now, the other VCR must be on an Input channel on your TV. Using the other VCR, run an RCA A/V cable, coming from that VCR's RCA A/V Output, into an RCA A/V Input in your TV.

Tips & Warnings
  • It does not matter which VCR you have on channel 3, or which one you have on an Input channel on your TV.
  • Note that if you do not have a coaxial port close to your TV, but you have a coaxial cable coming from your basement, or from somewhere else in your home, run that cable to the Input in your splitter, instead.
  • If you have 2 coaxial cables coming from another part of your home, like your basement, a splitter is not required. Just run each one of those cables to each of the VCR's coaxial Input, and that way, you will avoid using a splitter.
  • Using a splitter does not deliver the best picture quality possible.
  • Note that if you still have an available RCA A/V Input left in your TV, you may run the VCR that is on channel 3, to the other Input, as well, if you would like to, but it is not necessary.
