Finding your child the best piano teacher possible may benefit him in many ways. Research indicates that children who take piano lessons receive cognitive benefits in addition to learning music. Locate a quality piano and help your child in more ways than one.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Stop by a local music store. Many music stores offer group and private lessons for the piano along with a host of other instruments. If they don't provide piano lessons on site, they usually have names available of reputable piano teachers in the area. Ask them for business cards of piano teachers in the community.

  2. Step 2

Ask your child's school music teacher. Some schools have programs that offer piano lessons as part of after-school enrichment programs. Find out what your child's school has to offer and get her signed up.

  3. Step 3

Talk to a church organist or choir director. Lots of churches have someone in their congregation who teaches piano. The organist or choir director may teach piano or know someone who does.

  4. Step 4

Search websites devoted to finding quality piano teachers. Many sites locate piano teachers according to your geographic location. Some helpful websites include Private Lessons, Piano World and Piano Teachers (see link in Resources below).

Tips & Warnings
  • Always do a background check on piano teachers you don't know personally. Never leave your child alone with a stranger.
