    Instructions

      • 1

Make the decision to stop cheating. You must be committed to this change. Think about how proud you'll be when you get a good grade all by yourself.

      • 2

Study the topics that your teachers are teaching in your classes every day when you get home from school. Even if you only spend 30 minutes in addition to the time you use to complete homework, it can still make a big difference in your ability to do your work yourself.

      • 3

Get extra help from your teacher if you need it. Don't be shy or embarrassed. Everyone needs help from time to time, so if you don't understand something, get help until it makes sense.

      • 4

Prepare for tests. Study for the test the day before. Get a friend, sibling or parents to help; they can quiz you on subject material.

      • 5

Do your own work all the time. It is all right to ask other students for help, but don't copy their answers. If they offer to let you copy their paper, decline.

      • 6

Organize both your materials and your time. Keep your books and papers organized, and keep your homework in one folder so that you will remember to do it. Set aside a time each day to study and do your homework and stick to it.

Be aware that copying someone else's ideas, not just answers on a test is cheating also. For example, if you copy information off the Internet for a book report, or use someone else's idea for a project, this is cheating.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Remember that most people don't have much respect for cheaters, so if you stop cheating, chances are you will have more friends and teachers will like you better too.
