Step 1
Think about what activities go on in the playroom. If food is allowed in the playroom or if you'll be doing arts and crafts there, get something that's easy to clean, like vinyl.
-
Step 2
Provide soft play surfaces on a hard floor with throw rugs or interlocking rubber tiles. Carpeting is a good choice if you don't have to worry about spills. Carpet tiles might be better, since you can replace them as they become damaged. Foam or rubber flooring is both soft and easy to clean.

Step 3
Choose flooring that can inspire your children's creativity and is easy to play on. Buy carpet or vinyl tiles in bright colors or throw rugs with maps or bright scenery.

Step 4
Remember that you'll probably need to replace the floor as your child grows. A floor that's perfect for a toddler probably won't be right for a teenager.
