How to Solve the Wonderword Puzzle

Wonderword puzzles are like a normal word search puzzle, with one twist at the end. The letters that are not used in any of the located words will be used to spell a word that relates to the word list, puzzle title or theme. Some hints for solving wonderword puzzles are below.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw a line through the words when they are located. This will make it easier to see what letters have not been used in any of the words from the word list.

    • 2

Eyeball the corners of the wonderword puzzle, the lengthier words are usually found diagonally. Also check the sides and tops for words, both backwards and forwards.

    • 3

Scan the word list. Look for words that have rare letters, like "Q" or "X" in them, or repeated consecutive letters such as "SS." These letters and combinations are scarce in the puzzle, which will make the words easier to locate.

    • 4

Start locating the words alphabetically. If several words start with the same letter or combination of letters, it is easier to search for them at the same time. Locate the combination of letters, then check the letters following. Match the letters to the correct word, draw a line through the word and mark it off the list. Continue until all words with that combination of letters are found.

    • 5

Circle all the letters that are left over after the words on the word list are found. Sometimes the letters are in the correct order for the wonderword; other times the letters are scrambled.

Tips & Warnings

  • If a letter is accidentally marked as being part of a word where it does not really belong, make sure to mark the letter so you remember it needs to be attached to another word or be used as a left over letter.
