To groom properly, a man must know how to shave. Shave your mustache using a sharp, new razor and a quality shaving cream or gel. If your mustache is particularly thick, consider trimming it with a beard trimmer or a pair of scissors before you start shaving.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Soap
  • Water
  • Wash cloth
  • New razor
  • Shaving cream
  • Shaving lotion
  1. Step 1

Wash your face thoroughly with hot, soapy water before you shave your mustache. This prepares your skin for shaving and reduces the chance of infection or ingrown hairs.

  2. Step 2

Trim your mustache with a beard trimmer or a pair of scissors. Eliminate as much of the hair as you can without cutting yourself, as this makes shaving your mustache easier.

  3. Step 3

Wet a washcloth with hot water and apply it to your face for about 30 seconds to soften the hair and make your shave closer.

  4. Step 4

Apply shaving cream or shaving gel to the area you're about to shave. Make sure you spread the cream uniformly.

  5. Step 5

Pull your upper lip down and over your top teeth to pull the skin tight.

  6. Step 6

Draw your razor down from the top of your mustache to your lip. Rinse your razor thoroughly after each stroke to clean the shaved hair from the blade.

  7. Step 7

Repeat until your mustache is gone. Some men may have to shave more than once to totally remove a mustache. When you're done, use a shaving lotion to soothe and moisturize the skin to complete your grooming.
