Digital cameras have abundant features and varying types of styles and models. Most digital SLR models offer some sort of movie making feature, whether by stitching dozens of frames together or by incorporating software that provides an endless loop of frames.

From Quick Guide: Using SLR Cameras
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Look over the owner's manual. There will be a section dedicated solely to whatever type of movie making feature that particular model camera offers and the instructions to complete the project.

  2. Step 2

Locate the movie making logo either in the on-camera menu system or on a dial on the outside of the camera. Typically, this dial is on the top of the camera body and has an icon that resembles a movie camera or film.

  3. Step 3

Frame the subject of the movie in the viewfinder or on the LCD screen at the rear of the camera body. There are usually frame lines to indicate where the subject is located in relation to the center of the frame.

  4. Step 4

Hold the camera steady and depress the shutter button only halfway down. This will orient the camera and the subject and allow the camera to focus properly. Once this is done, depress the shutter button completely and let the camera indicate that it is receiving information.

  5. Step 5

Follow the subject as closely as possible and keep the subject in frame as much as possible for best results.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a tripod that swivels or tilts for extra panning and film gathering techniques.
  • Take along an extra battery.
  • Never point the digital camera directly into the sun as this will damage the imaging sensor.
