How to Peel Garlic
When you're preparing that special dish and the recipe calls for garlic, even the finest garlic powder will never replace the flavor of fresh garlic. Unfortunately, peeling the garlic can be a less than pleasant task, but fortunately, there are several handy hints that can make the job much easier. Does this Spark an idea?

Place the garlic on a cutting board with the flattest side down. Lay a chef's knife with the wide, flat end of the blade on top of the garlic. Hold the knife handle in one hand, and slap the heel of the other hand against the flat blade. The outer skin will detached from the garlic, which will be ready to be used whole, or to be be minced.

Drop a garlic clove in a glass of cool water, and allow it to sit in the water for at least 30 minutes. When the garlic is removed from the water, the skin will pop off easily. If you use a lot of garlic, you can put several cloves in water and store them in your refrigerator until you need them.

Peel garlic the old fashioned way. Just use a sharp paring knife to trim the top and bottom of the clove and roll it lightly between your fingers. The skin will peel off.

Purchase a garlic tube, which is short length of soft silicone. Place the garlic clove in the tube and roll it on a flat surface a few times. The skin will slide off easily.
