How to Make a YuGiOh Deck Box Out of Cards

You don't have to buy a deck box from the comic book store in which to store your YuGiOh card deck. If you have four cards that are of no use to you, you can use them to make a deck box. Not only will the box be smaller and easier to transport, but your fellow YuGiOh duelists will be impressed with your creativity.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Four Yu Gi Oh cards
  • Scissors
  • Adhesive tape
  1. Step 1

Select at least four Yu Gi Oh cards that you don't mind destroying. If you've collected several cards, you should have more than a few common throwaway cards to use--if you haven't thrown them away.

  2. Step 2

Cut one card in half along the vertical edges. Folding the card in half first will help you make an even cut. You will now have two long, thin halves of a card.

  3. Step 3

Take another whole card and cut off the bottom portion. Use the width of one of the halves of the card you cut in Step 2 to measure the length of the bottom portion.

  4. Step 4

Connect the top portion of the card you cut in Step 3 onto the top edge of one of the remaining whole cards, using adhesive tape.

  5. Step 5

Tape the whole cards and the cut halves together to form a rectangular box. The whole cards will make two sides facing each other, the halves will form the other two sides, and there will be openings at the top and bottom.

  6. Step 6

Fold the piece you taped to the whole card in Step 4 so it goes over the top opening. It will overlap the opening and stick out further. Fold down this piece into the box for a lid you can open and close.

  7. Step 7

Complete the box by taking the one small piece you have left and taping it to the bottom opening to make the box's bottom.

Tips & Warnings
  • You should use the sturdiest tape you can find. There's a good chance the tape will wear down over time and the box sides will separate. If this occurs, you'll have to repair the box with fresh tape.
  • The completed box should hold at least 80 cards or two assembled decks.

on 11/21/2009 I love this box! I was wondering what to do with those cards that got stuck together years ago; I salvaged the ones without ripped backs for my box.

By the way, it will hold 40 sleeved cards just fine but careful when pulling them out, don't push the bottom of the box.

on 8/16/2009 I did this. Very cool and very handy, but you need to tape it right otherwise it looks ugly. Also this only works if you don't put individual card cases on one's cards. But this card box method works on any type of card.
