The artist Titian or real name "Tiziano," was the leader of the Italian Renaissance movement and inspired generations of artists that came after with his exceptional clarity, rich colors and daring themes. Spot a Titian for yourself by knowing what to look for.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Look for religious and mythological themes. Although he painted many portrait and landscapes, the most common themes were religion such as in "St Sebastian" or "Crowning with thorns" or mythology such as the very famous "Venus with Cupid."
Step2
Search for pieces that include nudity or signs of wealth such as "Venus of Urbino" or "Danae and the shower of gold." Nudity was a popular theme in many of Titian's paintings and as he was the official court painter, many of his portraits show extreme wealth in jewelry, fabrics and background.
Step3
Discount black and white paintings or very bold and garish color schemes. Although Titian used a lot of color in his art, they were rich but muted colors and he especially liked a reddish brown that you can find in many of his pieces. If you see bolder blocks of color, this will probably belong to a more modern artist and is not a characteristic of Titian.
Step4
Consider the location of the gallery and the exhibit. Although some of Titian's works are included in moving exhibitions, many are residents in the art galleries of Europe from Edinburgh to Milan and not often found outside the continent. Titian was a renaissance artist so don't bother looking in a modern art gallery for his work.
