How to Manage One's Time Over Summer Vacation

Without the structure of a schedule during summer vacation from school, it can be hard to stay on task. Many kids let their summers pass by due to a lack of goals and self-structuring habits. But you can accomplish all you want during every summer break by managing your available time and making goals before summer hits.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Make a list of the things you'd like to accomplish over summer break. Write out what you need to make each thing happen, both monetarily and time-wise. If some are ongoing activities, like sports teams, make sure calculate how much time each week you need to spend practicing.
Step2
Divide your time wisely between work, socializing, alone time, family time and brain activities. Overemphasizing any one of these areas can get you out of balance and make the transition back into school harder to manage when summer is over.
Step3
Be clear on which goals are most important and which are secondary. You can figure this out more clearly by brainstorming everything you need to make your goals come to life in the short weeks you have during summer.
Step4
Allow yourself to sleep in a couple days a week, but do keep to some sort of schedule that you set for yourself. During the school year, your schedule is set for you to help teach you about consistency and structure. Use that to your advantage by knowing what you intend to accomplish each day, even if you do sleep in.
