Instructions

    • 1

Locate a bunch of flexible branches from a tree. Look for green leaves on the branches to identify that they are green, flexible branches.

    • 2

Select one of the branches and split it in half lengthwise about 6 inches. Pull it back and place a wedge in between the split to keep the branch spread apart. Take care not to nudge the wedge or the branch may end up slapping you.

    • 3

Hammer nails into the wedges so that they face outwards when you pull the branches back. Keeping the split branch pulled back, tie the tops of the two halves together with string leaving at least 2 1/2 feet remaining.

    • 4

Set the snick stares in a place frequented by the type of animal you want to catch. Look for animal signs such as paw prints, nibbled food or feces. Wrap the string around a peg then walk 2 feet and set half a foot of trip line to catch the animal.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep track of where you place the stick snares in order to remove them when you finish hunting. This will also prevent you from tripping the trap yourself.

  • If you use dry branches to make stick snares they will crack when pulled backwards.
