  • Markers
  • Utility knife
  • Wire hangers
  • Wire clippers
  • Duct tape
  • Gray spray paint
  • Dry ice
  • Fake cobwebs

  1. Step 1

Stuff the end of a small white garbage bag with newspaper to make a ghost's head. Tie a knot in the bag with fish line and hang it from a tree. Your ghost will dance when the wind blows.

  2. Step 2

Cut tombstone shapes from cardboard boxes and spray paint them gray. Write a scary message on the tombstone with magic markers. You can even dribble them with red paint to mimic blood. Duct tape wire coat hangers to the back and push them into the ground so your tombstone stays put.

  3. Step 3

Make it look like a corpse is trying to escape from the grave by filling gloves with paper. Place them halfway out of the ground in front of your tombstone. To take your Halloween yard decorations one step further, make an entire upper-half of a scarecrow climbing out of the grave.

  4. Step 4

Place slabs of dry ice on a piece of cardboard to make a spooky fog. If you're lucky, a chill autumn wind will blow the fog over your Halloween yard decorations. Otherwise, place a small fan nearby.

  5. Step 5

Cover your house, bushes and trees with cotton cobwebs. Attach plastic spiders for a more realistic effect.
