SpongeBob SquarePants is a very popular cartoon with kids of all ages. Making SpongeBob decorations is easy and inexpensive. One great idea for decorating a child's room or to use at a SpongeBob-themed party is to use a simple shoebox to create a detailed SpongeBob decoration.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • One shoebox
  • Brown, blue and yellow construction paper
  • Spray adhesive or glue
  • Sand
  • Small Spongebob toys
  • Small yellow sponge
  • Yellow pipe cleaners
  1. Step 1

Find an old shoebox to use as a setting for the SpongeBob decoration. The larger the box, the easier and better looking your decoration will be.

  2. Step 2

Gather some construction paper to wrap the box. Use brown paper for the outside of the box and draw on some lines to give the appearance of wood grain. This will make your shoebox look like a treasure box. On the inside, line the box with blue paper to give the appearance of water, since SpongeBob and his friends live under the sea.

  3. Step 3

Stand the box on its side so that the opening faces to the side instead of up. Draw a pineapple and a small, flat-bottomed boulder onto the large surface that was originally the inside bottom of the shoebox. These are easily recognizable to SpongeBob fans as the two main characters' homes.

  4. Step 4

Spray adhesive or spread a smooth, thin layer of glue onto the floor of the display, on the inside of the box. Apply a thin layer of sand to create the sea floor.

  5. Step 5

Build a SpongeBob character using the small, yellow sponge by pushing the yellow pipe cleaners into the sponge to create arms and legs. Cut the pipe cleaners to the appropriate lengths to give him a better look. Bend the arms so the hands appear to be behind SpongeBob's head.

  6. Step 6

Cut out square pants, a smile and shoes to scale using the brown construction paper and cut out eyes using the blue paper. Glue the pieces onto the sponge to create SpongeBob as he looks on television. Add a circle of sunshine about the same size as SpongeBob out of the yellow paper.

  7. Step 7

Lean SpongeBob in one corner of the box to make him look like he is sunbathing and place the sunshine in the opposite corner. Add details to complete the look such as a beach chair or towel. Include a Krabby Pattie on his lap or drink by his side to complete the SpongeBob-themed decoration.
