Unless you spend your time skating indoors, you've probably encountered curbs during rollerblading sessions. Aggressive skaters like to use curbs to pull off all sorts of stalls and tricks. Sometimes, though, the curb's just in your way, in which case you should jump over it and keep riding.

From Quick Guide: Rollerblading
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Pick a spot on the curb that's evenly surfaced and free of branches, leaves, garbage bins or other debris. You don't want to worry about tripping over anything in addition to landing the jump.

  2. Step 2

Stand between 10 to 20 feet away from the curb. Make sure your rollerblades are tightly laced or buckled and that you're mentally prepared to take the jump.

  3. Step 3

Skate slowly toward the curb. You don't need to build lots of speed for the jump, since most of your energy will come from your legs.

  4. Step 4

Wait until you're about a foot away from the curb, then crouch down and immediately explode upward. Quickly swing your arms down and then back up to give yourself a boost.

  5. Step 5

Pull your knees up together as you coast over the curb. Keep your eyes focused on your landing spot, but keep your head up and relaxed. When your head wobbles, your body tends to follow, throwing you off balance.

  6. Step 6

Keep your center of gravity directly over your feet and land on the sidewalk. Bend your knees when you hit the ground to absorb the jump's impact.
