Laptop cases are a good way to protect your computer. However, you don't need to spend a lot of money to have a laptop case. You can make a minimalistic case with some cardboard and duct tape. It may not be the trendiest laptop case in the world, but it can still protect your laptop.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Cardboard box
  • Scissors
  • Ruler or straight edge
  • Duct tape

Step1
Measure the length of your laptop. Add one inch for each side or a total of two inches. Multiply the width of your laptop times two. Add six inches to that measurement.
Step2
Find a box that meets the measurements from Step 1. It's best if you can find a box that has a minimal number of folds in it at this point. Cut the cardboard to size.
Step3
Determine where the folds need to be. Start at the top of the length (the width measurement) and measure the amount needed for the front of the case. Mark it. If your cardboard had folds in it, try to use one of them as a fold for the minimalistic case. Add an inch or more if your laptop is thicker. Mark it.
Step4
Continue to measure the back of the minimalistic case. Add another inch for the top fold. You should now have a piece left that can serve as the flap on the case.
Step5
Lightly score the cardboard with the ruler or straight edge. If the cardboard is thick, you may want to cut through one layer of paper. Fold the cardboard.
Step6
Pull off a length of duct tape. Tape the sides together from front to back in three places. Then fold a piece of duct tape over the edge to secure both the front and back pieces together.
Step7
Decorate the minimalistic case. You can cover it with colored duct tape or you can decorate it in whatever fashion you desire.
