Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Ask him in private why he is being so mean. Find out the reasons behind his rudeness. If he doesn't have any answers, then clearly he is just acting out because your attention is going elsewhere.
Step2
Remind him that he has to stop being so mean to your friends. If he cannot stop being rude or mean around them, tell him you will not include him anymore in any social events or dinners.
Step3
Bring him out more and involve him in your conversations with your friends. The reason he might be rude to your friends might be because he feels left out of your life. Ask him to join you and maybe if he gets to know your friends better, then he will like them. See if you can find common interests to share together.
Step4
Tell him how important your friends are to you. Express that you need your friends in your life and that if he cannot deal with it he won't be a part of your life anymore. You need your own friends just like he needs his own friends.
Step5
Reassure him that he is your best friend, but you want to also have other friends in your life to hang out with. He is welcome anytime to get to know your friends better. Maybe then he will be more polite and enjoy their company.
Step6
Set aside separate time to hang out with your friends, if your boyfriend can't deal with them. Spend part of the time with them and part of time with him, if you find the situation with them all together too awkward.
