Step 1
Learn everything you can about blackjack. Read and study books and videos about blackjack. Books like "Professional Blackjack," "Theory of Blackjack" and "Blackjack Secrets" will teach you many secrets and strategies that professionals spent years trying to figure out. There are also many free videos and articles online that can improve your games.
-
Step 2
Get a strategy sheet and bring it every time you play blackjack. There is a blackjack chart that tells you what action you should take according to your hands and what the dealer has. If you were to play according to the chart over an extended period of time, the house would only win 51% of the time. These are some of the best odds that you can find in a casino. The best part is that it is perfectly legal.
-
Step 3
Set limits for yourself. Don't go broke in one session. If you find yourself walking to the ATM for a cash advance, it is probably time to call it a day. Realize that some days the cards just aren't going to go your way.
-
Step 4
Be prepared to grind it out. Professional blackjack players often spent 12-14 hour days at a table winning little hand after little hand. Setbacks and bad beats are common. While the feeling of a hot streak is exhilarating, the pain of losing your money is horrible. The best players are the ones that can forget the last hand.
-
Step 5
Get a computer and play online. There are many reputable Internet gambling sites you can play blackjack on. There are also many advantages to playing online instead of a casino. You can work out of your house and anytime of the day or night. You have reduced overhead because you won't have to pay various costs associated with visiting a casino. Things such as gas, parking, hotel, food, etc. all eat into your profits.

on 9/23/2008 How the heck does Casino make one desire a living playing blackjack? The movie has nothing to do with blackjack. It makes me want to run a mob funded casino. Unless you are pointing to the scene where Joe Pesci gets to throw cards at the dealer when he doesn't like them but I don't think any of us will be granted that luxury.
