How to Install Widgets on a PC

Widgets are small programs that perform specific tasks on your PC. There are widgets to fit every task and every description. Install some widgets on your PC and use them to help you organize your life. These directions are for Yahoo widgets, but most widgets install on a PC in a similar fashion.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Go to Yahoo's widget page. Make sure you have the minimum requirement to install widgets on your computer. Also make sure you have permission to install widgets if the computer is a work or school machine. Click on "Get Started Now."

  2. Step 2

    Read Yahoo's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy as they appear in the dialog box. Make sure you agree with them. Click "Start Install" to download Yahoo's widget installer program.

  3. Step 3

    Choose "Run" in the next two dialog boxes that open to finish the installation of the widget installer program. Next select "Continue" to install the Widget Starter Pack. This is a collection of popular widgets to get you started. It may take a couple minutes to install.

  4. Step 4

    Click "I Accept" after you read the License Agreement. As soon as you do that, the installation process is complete and you can see the widget "dock" on your computer.

  5. Step 5

    Take a few minutes to look at the widgets that came with the package. Some, such as the weather, may need to be set up in order to work properly. Click "Continue" on the dialog box to find out more about the new widgets work.

  6. Step 6

    Remove any of the widgets in the package that you don't want. Simply right click on the widget. Select "Uninstall."

  7. Step 7

    Continue searching for widgets to install on your PC. Find the ones most useful for your everyday needs, but don't forget to include something fun.
