Replacing a vinyl shower curtain yearly is a simple spring cleaning step to keep your shower fresh and clean. Vinyl shower curtains come in an array of colors and patterns and you can also layer them behind fabric shower curtains. However, when you first hang your vinyl curtain you may see fold marks. Luckily there are several options for removing the fold marks in your new curtain.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Remove the shower curtain from the packaging.

  2. Step 2

Inspect the curtain to make sure the grommets for attaching your shower curtain hooks are sturdy and in good shape. Return the curtain if you find any manufacturing defects. The grommet area must be strong enough to hold the weight of the curtain as well as withstand repeated shower uses.

  3. Step 3

Hang your shower curtain and spray with warm water from the shower head. The warm water helps to soften the material and loosen the creases. After repeated showers and contact with warm water the creases continue to fade. This is an easy option if you have a hand-held shower wand because you can spray all areas of the curtain.

  4. Step 4

Unfold your shower curtain and place in a clothes dryer with a couple of damp bath towels. Dry on a medium heat setting for a few minutes to help remove the creases. You can also soak the curtain in a washing machine in warm water to help soften up the material before drying if the creases are deep-set.

  5. Step 5

Take the shower curtain out of the dryer and hang in your bathroom. The weight of the shower curtain helps pull the creases out of the curtain while it cools.
