Microsoft Excel is one of the most used programs we have available to us. Many people, however, find that some of their most often used commands are not readily available. If this is the case with you, simply customize your toolbar to include them and easily get your tasks done.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Open Microsoft Excel. Pull down the "Tools" command. This is in the word list above the actual toolbar. Click on the arrows at the bottom of the list.
Step2
Select "Customize" as the command to use. You will see Excel "Categories" and "Commands" in the Windows panes. What you choose at this point depends on your specific needs.
Step3
Scroll through the "Categories" to see the commands offered by each. Settle on which commands you want to add, or customize. Categories show on the left side and individual commands show on the right. For example, if you want to add the command to delete a row, choose "Edit" from the categories and "Delete Rows" from the commands.
Step4
Drag your specific command to the toolbar using your mouse. Drop the command onto the toolbar by releasing the mouse button.
Step5
Repeat these steps for each Excel command you want to customize.

Tips & Warnings

  • Customization makes your work go more smoothly.
  • Excel offers many options for customizing your toolbar. You can put options in your toolbar to cover graphing, flowcharts and drawing.
