How to Remove Screen Protection Stickers

From cell phones to laptops to monitors and LCD game screens, screen protection stickers are everywhere. When you buy a new device, taking the sticker off is part of that pre-use process. You'll want to know this process well for each new tech purchase so you don't harm your new gadgets.

Instructions

1. Read the manual. Some screen protection surfaces may look like stickers, but in some cases, they're meant to stay on. Other times, removing a sticker can void a warranty or break a return policy. Read documentation before taking your screen stickers off.

2. Find a thin, sharp object to pry off the corner of the sticker. You can use a blade or file end, or just your own fingernails, but try to find something that won't hurt the screen surface. You'll only be using this tool to start the removal process, but safer is always better.

3. Use your tool to just pry the smallest corner piece off of the screen.

4. Grab the edge of the screen protection sticker and use even, slow movements to pull it gradually away from the screen. Your sticker should come off easily and smoothly; if not, you may need to be extra careful.

5. Read the manual again to find out how to clean your screen. When you have removed the sticker, dust and dirt may gather on the screen. Your documentation should tell you how to preserve screens using cleaners or how to remove any glue residue that might be there directly after you take the sticker off.

Tips & Warnings

• During the process, take all proper care not to scratch at the screen surface with your tools. No matter what you're using, you should be able to start the sticker removal without attacking the screen, using small, controlled movements. Keep any angled tool at an obtuse angle from the screen to prevent damage.
