CDs are relatively cheap, so when they end up scratched they're useless. Rather than toss them out, decorate a mirror with a CD frame. Not only does it fit in perfectly with the reduce, reuse and recycle theme that's popular today, but with a little creativity, an old mirror will turn into a new possession to be proud of.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Gather a collection of old CDs. Decide what side of the CD will show, the mirrored side or the labeled side. Freebies in the mail are good sources if you don't show the label. For a themed mirror, collect old CDs that fit into the color scheme or chosen genre.

  2. Step 2

Turn the mirror right side up and lay out the CDs to create a border of your choice, or decorate the mirror by placing a few random CDs around the mirror. Move the CDs around until the outline or design is just right. Try overlapping them or plan to cut them in half to create a square edge to match the mirror's edge. Mark any areas that you need to cut or trim with a dry erase marker.

  3. Step 3

Put a ruler on the marked edge of the CD that needs trimming and score with a utility knife. Bend the CD towards the ruler until it snaps at the correct spot.

  4. Step 4

Use epoxy glue or a hot glue gun to apply glue to the backside of the CD and glue it to the front of the mirror to decorate it. Repeat with all prepared CDs.

  5. Step 5

Wait for the glue to dry completely.

  6. Step 6

Install a hanging kit if necessary to the back of the mirror and hang it up or wrap it up for a one-of-a-kind present.

Tips & Warnings
  • Most people will give away scratched CDs if you ask them to hold them for you.
